However, fabrication of mT-SOFCs is a challenging process, where a number of ceramic layers with different compositions and characteristics have to be placed together in the cylindrical device. Several co-sintering processes have to be performed at different temperatures and using distinct atmospheres to complete cell fabrication. In this review, we summarize recent activity in the field of fabrication and characterization of mT-SOFCs, including the use of mT-SOFCs for steam electrolysis.

Simulation of a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell with External Steam Methane Reforming and Bypass
Fuel flexibility is a significant advantage of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and can be attributed to their high operating temperature. The eligibility of a combined heat and power (CHP) system has been investigated as a new power generation methode, in this study. Natural gas fueled SOFC power systems via methane steam reforming (MSR) yield electrical conversion efficiencies exceeding 50% and...

Fuel electrode supported microtubular solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) fabricated at ICMA have been characterized in both solid oxide steam electrolyser (SOEC) and fuel cell modes. The cells consists of a fuel electrode supporting tube of Ni/YSZ with 40% porosity, 400 μm thickness, 2.4 mm diameter and 100-150 mm length, a 15 m thick YSZ electrolyte and a 50vol% LSM/YSZ composite air electrode of...
متن کاملDynamic Response Analysis of the Planar and Tubular Solid Oxide Fuel Cells to the Inlet Air Mass Flow Rate Variation
The purpose of present study is to investigate the dynamic response of two conventional types of solid oxide fuel cells to the inlet air mass flow rate variation. A dynamic compartmental model based on CFD principles is developed for two typical planar and tubular SOFC designs. The model accounts for transport processes (heat and mass transfer), diffusion processes, electrochemical processes, a...

In his paper, performance modeling and parametric study of a tubular solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) fed by hydrogen was conducted. The components of the fuel cell system and its reactions were entirely modelled and an electrochemical analysis done for it. A variety of modeling parameters including temperature, working pressure and the air mass- flow rate have been investigated in order to observe...
متن کاملElectrolyte Degradation in Anode Supported Microtubular YSZ-based Solid Oxide Steam Electrolysis Cells at high voltages of operation
Degradation of solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOECs) is probably the biggest concern in the field of high temperature steam electrolysis (HTSE). Anode supported, YSZ-based microtubular solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) have been tested in fuel cell mode and also at high voltages (up to 2.8V) under electrolysis mode. At high steam conversion rates the cell voltage tends to saturate. Our hypothesis ...
